How to create student assignment in Legentibus

You can create two types of assignments for your students to do in Legentibus. See below how to do create them:

1. Specific texts (or parts of them)
2. Set assignments based on the number of words read or minutes studied

Note that you have to create a class in order to create assignments. An assignment currently pertains to all students in a particular class.

1 Create text based assignments

The first type of assignment allows you to give a specific text or part of a text from the Legentibus catalogue as an assignment for your students.

1. First, click on CLASSES in the side menu.
2. Look in the table and find the class you want to give an assignment to.
3. Click +CREATE in the last column called Assignment due.
4. Choose TEXT SELECTION and click CONTINUE.
5. You will now see a list of all the texts available to you in Legentibus. Click on the arrows in the column headers to change the sorting.
6. Select a text that you want your students to read. Click CONTINUE.
7. Next, click on the check boxes to select the chapters you want your students to read. Then, click CONTINUE.
8. Write out the instructions you want your students to follow, e.g. “Read the text 3 times, and write 5 questions in English.” Then click CONTINUE.
9. Pick a due date for the assignment. Click CONTINUE.
10. You will now see a mobile view of what your students will see. To make changes before sending it out, click  the back arrow (←) in the upper left corder of the dialogue box.
11. When you are satisfied with your assignment, click FINISH. The assignment will then appear at the top of the homescreen of your students' Legentibus app.

Open reading assignments

The second type of assingment is greate for promoting extensive reading and listening (or Free voluntary reading) in Latin. For this assignment type, you assign a specifuc number of minutes or words the students are to read and the students get to pick whatever they want to read in Legentibus.

1. First, click on CLASSES in the side menu to the left.
2. Look in the table and find the class you want to give an assignment to.
3. Click +CREATE in the last column called Assignment due.
4. Then click on OPEN READING and CONTINUE.
5. You can then choose between two types of open reading assignments:
   1. Number of words to be read
   2. number of minutes to read
6. Click the radio button for the choice you want and then click CONTINUE.
7. The next steps are the same as for the text based assignment
